Earthworm Jim/2 Broken Cheat? (SNES)

I was playing a little bit of both games and remembered a button cheat I found for both that either did nothing (Earthworm Jim), or froze the game (Earthworm Jim 2). Based on the cheat id's, they are meant to perform the same function. It could be the "Suicide" cheat found in the PSX and Saturn versions, or a level warp of some kind. Here are the codes for each game:

Earthworm Jim

Pause game play and press A, B, X, Y(2), X, B, A.

Earthworm Jim 2

Unknown:
Pause game play and press A, B, X, Select(2), X, B, A.

It would be great to find out the purpose of these.
