English is my first & only language I speak. I've taken two years of high school level Spanish & probably know just enough Spanish to get in trouble.

I've always found that Google Translate is an effective translation tool.

Here's an example:

I love hacking video games. - English

Ich liebe Hacking Videospielen. - German

Me encantan los juegos de vídeo hacking. - Spanish

Amo i videogiochi di hacking. - Italian

أنا أحب ألعاب الفيديو القرصنة. - Arabic

Я люблю взлома игр. - Russian

J'aime les jeux vidéo de piratage. - French

Rakastan hakkerointi videopelejä. - Finnish

This thing is awesome. I would have posted Japanese, Korean, Thai, & Chinese, but the work computer isn't designed to display those characters. It just shows a bunch of squares in its place. I think if I could speak another language, I'd love to speak German & Russian fluently. I like the way it sounds. My mouth always feels dirty anytime I try speaking French.

That sentence doesn't make any sense. The way that it'll make sense is:

Me encanta hackear juegos de video..
Me gusta hackear juegos de video.

I think Google translate is good at translating words but not sentences.

I absolutely agree. That's how teachers catch alot of students cheating with their translation homework. They know right away if a student used a tool like Google Translation.

I took 4 years of honors Spanish in High School. Then I took 4 more years of Spanish at a University. So thats 8 years of Spanish I had. And I still can't speak fluently in Spanish. If a person were to speak to me in Spanish, they would have to speak slowly and I may have to ask them to please repeat what they said. I'm much better at reading Spanish than speaking it, especially with my slight Brooklyn accent my Spanish sounds awful.

Yeah, the common work for "hacking" that keeps popping up is "Piracy". I've been able to use Google Translate to communicate on Ebay. I admit its not 100% effective, but its gets the job done.

Yeah, I get the same thing when translating things to say to my wife (who's Filipina). Classic.
