Are all MAME games identicle to games with the same title for NES/SNES/Genesis?

Are all MAME games identicle to games with the same title for NES/SNES/Genesis? For example: Bubble Bubble 2 for NES is a different game than Bubble Bobble 2 for MAME even though they are both titled Bubble Bobble 2. But another example is (MAME) Gauntlet 2 which seems identicle to the Gauntlet 2 for NES. So are all games different for MAME even though they have the same title as a NES/SNES/Genesis game? Or are some different and some the same? Also, I know MAME has better graphics than NES but what has better graphics, MAME games or SNES/Genesis games?

It's a MAME that let's you use it like other normal emulators. Meaning, you can use the mouse or keyboard to select stuff, instead of using command lines.

I recommend using that one over the normal MAME because normal MAME is command based (think of DOS).

Yeah, MAME is an arcade emulator. Totally different from consoles. Back in those days, when they ported games, they usually added or removed or completely remade the games, but they still called them the same.

yea I noticed that. I never knew that. There are some great games from the Arcades that never made it to a video game console and there are some great games with the same title as a NES/SNES/Genesis that are completely different even though they have the same title. Example: Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder. That game is amazing. Also there are SEVEN or EIGHT different Bubble Bobbles (NOT including puzzle games) for MAME. When I found that out I got very happy.

Are there such thing as MAME cheat codes?...

Are there such things as MAME cheat codes? If there is such thing, can you please direct me to a website that does have MAME cheat codes. Adding MAME cheat codes could be a suggestion of what to add to this website.

Found them but need help... It says to "Go to Pugsy's MAME Cheat Page and obtain a file called CHEAT.DAT, which includes technical data that enables you to cheat in the games. Put this file in the same directory with MAME. Then edit your MAME.INI file (if you do not see it, run MAME with the parameter -createconfig or -cc). Change the line that says cheat 0 to read cheat 1. Alternately, you can run MAME with the -cheat command line parameter. When you run the game, press Tab to display the configuration menu. Select Cheat to see the list of cheats for that particular game and to enable them."

The question is, if someone is using the official MAME program "mame0142b", how do you do it. So how do you edit MAME.INI file? And if you can't see the MAME.INI file, how do you run MAME with the parameter -createconfig or -cc). Or it says you can do it an alternative way by running MAME with the -cheat command line parameter. How do you do it that way?

Whatever way is the easiest please explain how to do it. Thank you

Your using the gui version of mame. Go download the newest cheat file from pugsy's site. If its not already named cheat.zip then name it that and put it in the root of the mame directory (DO NOT UNZIP IT!). Next open mame and right click the game you would like to cheat in, go to the misc tab and enable cheats. From there within the game there should be a new option under the "Tab" menu that will allow you to toggle the cheats for the game.
Not taking any requests at this time.

Wanted to know how to enable cheats in the official MAME (mame0142b)-command based. Because that MAME starts up so much quicker than the user interface MAMEUI32 which is the unofficial one. The official MAME starts up instantly. The user interface MAMEUI32 takes about a long minute just to load. Don't know why the user interface MAMEUI32 takes so long to start. Does anyone know why the user interface MAMEUI32 takes so long to load? I know how to enable cheats in the user interface one (MAMEUI32). I prefer the official MAME because it loads instantly. So that is why I was asking how to enable cheats in the official mame because it loads incredibly more quicker.

Try playing Double Dragon on NES and then MAME, I like the NES control more so than the arcade version but the arcade has superior graphics and sound.

If you want to use the command line interface, you'll need to learn the appropriate commands. The GUI takes longer to load because it takes a minute to process all of the rom info and images. It's a necessary sacrifice for a more user friendly interface.

As long as cheat.zip (which contains the CHEAT.DAT file) is in the directory with mame, and cheats are enabled (may be a command line parameter), they should work.

There are a lot of friendly people here willing to help, but a lot of your questions can be answered with a simple google search.

Wow OldSchoolGamer. At first I thought you were just playing dumb, but you really are new to this whole emulation thing huh?

You're gonna have many many fun days of playing all of those consoles that you never played before. Just with Arcade games on MAME you'll have your hands full for a good number of years to come.

I suggest you also get emulators for Turbografx-16 and CD, Sega Master System and Sega CD, Gameboy/Color/Advance and many others. You'll go nuts with all the games you never played.

I strongly suggest you download MAMEUI and forget about the normal MAME. MAMEUI let's you use MAME like a normal windows emulator. No need to type commands or anything like that. Just point and click. You'll get used to that start-up "slowness" because you'll eventually learn that Arcade games don't quite work the same as console games. It's a small price to play to have a MAME with a GUI (graphical user interface) and all the perks that come with it.

And MAMEUI being unofficial is not a bad thing. The MAME team lets other people make their own versions of MAME as long as they follow their rules.
MAMEUI is about the most official any MAME emulator can get. MAMEUI (previously known as MAME32) is one of the oldest MAME versions and it is very respected among its users.

As you get more experienced with emulator usage, you'll soon find out how good it is to have MAMEUI over the normal MAME once you start downloading screenshots, flyers and info packs.
I honestly can't have a MAME where I can't have screenshots of the game, flyers and the amazing history.dat and mameinfo.dat.

Thanks for the explanation. And yes I am new to all this. You are right about having many fun days ahead with the discovery of emulators. I don't think I will ever be bored for the next couple years lol. I'm new to all the emulators and even the forum scene. This is my first and only forum I ever registered for. I have never even registered to any website before, except Facebook. I have never commented on any forums, news/sports sites, youtube, or any other website. But after finding myself continually coming to this website for game genie codes, to learn, and other help, I realized there was no need to go to any other similar websites because this site has basically everything that I would need or want. After exploring many other similar websites, in my opinion this site is the best. Everything about it is good, from the information available, cheat codes, members, administrators, education, format/easy on the eyes to read/layout of the site, and gaming help. So since I started using this site exclusively, I decided to register and I'm happy that I did. So now instead of just reading this site, I can contribute, ask questions, put my 5 cents in, and learn. Someday soon, when I have some free time, I'd like to learn how to make game genie codes.
