  • Re: Users Are Having Log-In Problems.

Okay, I shall post this so that the users we have can get help logging in, it seems something odd is going on with someone. They are trying to log in and are having problems.

Anyway, not sure what to do other then post their e-mail asking for help, and reply back to them I posted it and with hope within a short time things will be right, anyway BelGarion sends me this e-mail.

Now that's freaking weird. I log in, it thanks me for logging in and to
    sit
tight it's redirecting me, it redirects me and it logs me out. Why
    can't I
stay logged in more than a half second?

    BelGarion

Not sure what I can do, but I hope the admins can help get him all in and settled again, please.

Re: Users Are Having Log-In Problems.

This isn't good... I thought I was the only one having trouble with logging in. Mostly because I'm not using a computer, and in the past (well, a bit more than a year ago) I flat out couldn't.

It seems to work usually if you keep trying to log in if it logs you out the first (or second...and so forth) time. I'm somewhat suspiciouos about this, though I may be completely wrong, that the ubb is starting to behave badly because even though it was working fine awhile ago, it's more recently started behaving badly, as it hasn't been updated in awhile, and is deciding to try and force the point... First guests and actual users are listed as being places they aren't. And now logging in has started to fail...

Yeah, I've had similar problems in the past, although recently everything's been working fine...

It would say, "Thanks for logging in..." and above that, "You are not logged in. Please log in or register", and once the page changed, I'd find I really wasn't logged in.
      I may be lazy, but I can...zzzZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZ...

I really think there's some bugs (or at least questionable problems) with the ubb. I believe the "Guest" problems are related to it's not always checking to see if anybody's been around... It does also usually take at least one reload of the main page before somebody shows up as logged in... Which is reasonable, but then they tend to still be listed as a guest as well... Somebody should make a backup of the whole ubb at some point... Even if it has no chance of self destructing...

this happens on LOTS of boards, yabbs, ubbs, vbs. it's a cookie thing. set your browser's security settings to accept all cookies (pull the privacy slider down all the way in IE6). that's what i know to work true for this problem all the time. i believe this topic has been discussed before, has it not?

[drunkmode]Well, yes. IE6 is to blame for 90% of all login problems. But I don't think anybody's talked about it around this board... That damn piece of shit thing needs a P3P header to accept cookies without somebody changing the settings to lower the so-called 'security' settings that IE has... What I think is, that m$ did it to see how many websites they could bend to their will, bastards... Ignore me, I'm one drunk hacker...[/drunkmode]

              Oh yeah, welcome back, Ron...
