(I posted this question here because it's not related to hacking.)
My SNES Game Genie has no effect on games. The codes I enter just don't do anything. (The same codes work on an emulator. The ROMs I used were the same version as the real cartridges.)
I have noticed that if I enter any five codes into TMHT: Turtles in Time, press start and reset, these five codes always appear on the Game Genie screen:
E7EF-2FD7
83ED-EA78
DDDD-DDDD
DDE7-EFE8
DD3E-D83F
If I understood the manual correctly, the codes that I entered should appear after a reset.
In Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose, the five codes that appear after a reset are slightly different but don't depend on what codes I have entered.
The switch of the Game Genie is in the 'on' position. The led lights up. I have cleaned the connectors of the SNES, the Game Genie and the games. I looked at the circuit board of the Game Genie but I didn't see any damaged components. I have an unmodified European SNES and European games.
Could my Game Genie be broken?
