Er, that said, who will be participating in the gaming competition, and the art competition? We don't need a final roster yet, but we might as well start putting one together.

Ah, I see. Well, we'll have to test any other emulators out in the next couple of days, then.

Ah, cool. You could even preconfigure controls for a keyboard, and let them change it for custom controls or a gamepad.

for the hacking part, i still say go for the Hack-me which i could possibly write for you. if i wrote the source code someone with say the ps2sdk could compile one for ps2, someone with a DS sdk could compile it etc... if it was going to be cross platform though they mite have to port the graphics side of to what ever graphics library their console has, or it could just be an executable that doesn't display anything on screen but has all the other functions there and i could set out a list of things that could be hacked then check them over to see if they're right

That might be pretty damn cool. If you make one, I'll set the prize up.

We should also decide on a number of games to be played, and how the tournament structure should be. Should everyone play every game (that would probably be the only fair way to play)? How will a player be eliminated? And so on...

Can be like a playoff system. Votes should be made to decide the games and the three with more votes should be chosen and a table of scores with the winners for each game can be created. If there is a draw an extra game should be played to decide the winner.
That's the only I can think of. Maybe three points for winners and one for losers?

Could do it like the game tourneys are set up,where the losers still play but against losers in the Losers Bracket,or we could just eliminate them completly, anyways whats important is the games that ppl want to play so I can set up the files and have them ready for ppl to download.

What about selecting the games that fit better to this contest and then making a poll so players can select the games to play?

OK, sounds like a good idea.

Helder: As you're more familiar with the selection of MAME games out there, would you mind throwing together a list of three fighting games, three sports games, three racing games, and three puzzle games, and making a poll thread for each set?

Sure I'll see what I have for each catagory, althought there are just too many good fighting games to choose from,oh well.Racing games as far as I have seen dont have 2 player support so I didnt submit those choices, also gonna need somewhere to host the rar file when its all said and done, and what should be the close date for the poll?

Cool, OK. Three games is a better number anyway, for an elimination tournament.

We'll work out a proper place to host the RAR once we decide on the games.

I suppose the close date should be the 18th. We'll have to push the start date for the tournament back to the 26th (Saturday), to give proper lead time, and to build a proper roster. After we've decided on games (the 18th), we'll open a thread to see who'll be entering the contest, in which we'll explain the rules and structure, and I'll announce the prizes (though, keep in mind, this year's prizes will be fairly limited, and next year's will likely be better). The cut-off for entries into the contest will be the 24th. Of course, if anyone has an objection, or a better idea, I'm open to it. I'll begin planning prizes ASAP.

If we can't scheme up a decent idea for a Hacking contest, we'll have to put that on hold until the 10th anniversary. I'll still probably set up some prizes for the Artwork contest, in case anyone wants to try a hand at designing some GSHI art.
