  • Emulation Blurb (Mac VS x86)

For emulation i have to say the x86 emulators are in the most part far superior to the PowerPC emulators.

Back in 2002 iNES(Macintosh Version) was far more stable than RockNES (though i liked Nesticle better :3). Now iNES is still stable but for a lot of the features that come free in the PC version you have to PAY.

Snes9x was equal in the Mac and PC versions back 2002, but now the PC version is far superior. The Macintosh version you have to PAY to be able to use a usb GamePad. Also the PC has Znes <3

VBA is super-unstable for the Macintosh and so are almost all the Gameboy Emulators.

PSx Emulators for a Mac? None that work very well. You'd be better off hooking up the Playstation to the Macintosh via a Avid card. (I had a 6500 Powermac with RCA video inputs)

Apple II emulators on the Mac are much better than the PC due to the fact that Carbon allows for the native reading of Apple II disks.

I have not found a working Genesis emulator for the Macintosh.

Sounds like the normal problem of "nobody using mac hardware" or so somebody decided (likely somebody who has never actually used one) and pretty much everybody else followed. Linux has a similar issue, but mostly because a wide range of windows based emulators are closed source.

Obviously there's also a lot of capitalist pigs porting emulators out there...

zsnes for example, has no chance of ever being ported to a non-x86 compatible platform due to having a large percentage of the source as assembly. Of course, that means it'd probably work fine on one of the newer low speed Macs they've got.

Actualy there is a port of the Znes for the Intel Macintosh but not for the PowerPC.
