Per a PM he sent me, and probably a few other people, Macrox is retiring from the hacking scene, for good this time.

He was a great hacker that went way back, and he'll be missed. May he relax in peace.

Yeah, it's indeed a shame. He could have just stopped hacking, and remained as a dormant sage, but I suppose he was tired of the scene in general.

Heh. From what he said, he was angry at KW for being immature in general, and for the disgusting images thrown around there. He thus migrated to GSHI, but with the scene split between several sites, he may have just gotten tired of 'net drama.

Well, if not for Rune, GSC would still be a decent place, and there would have been no need for the exodus in the first place. The scene would have been less divided, and more collaborative hacking work could have been done (though, KW and GSHI are closer than GSC and GSHI ever were).

Hence, indirectly, Macrox left the scene because Rune is a jerk...

I just thought it would be funnier if I made it look baseless and childish instead of actually giving validation to my claim.

I am going to miss MacroX. ;_; I wish i could have learned more about hacking video games from him.

Yet from what i understand, Phil The Hammer and Tony H are still active and i hope to learn from their vast repository of hacking knowledge.

That's quite unfortunate, and a great loss to the scene. But I can't really blame him for leaving.

there are times i would like to quit the hacking scene (not like i've ever made a mark in it), i can see why he did. i wish him the best of luck in what ever he endevors to do.

You can't blame Rune on it. If Kw wasn't formed, it would of formed on GSC, which would of made things worse.

Eh, not that this thread should become a debate about Rune, but the way he treated his colleagues eventually caused the intelligent ones to leave. I don't know what you mean by "it would of formed on GSC", but as Rune kept tight control over everything, nothing would have formed without his knowledge and acceptance. KW already existed over at GSC in a way, but it was being repressed. A camel's back will only support so much straw...
