  • Portable Emulator Thread

I was looking through the forums of a site that works on making Portable Applications and Executables and found in the Beta section some emulators. This perked my interest because the first one i looked at is a well known Snes emulator (Znes). The other Emulator i found was one i was told was the better Gameboy emulator (Visual Boy Advance).

What do i mean by portable.
A portable application, or portable app for short, is a software program that does not require any kind of formal installation onto a computer's permanent storage device to be executed, and can be stored on a removable storage device such as a CD-ROM, USB flash drive, flash card, or even a floppy disk, enabling it to be used on multiple computers.

Please feel free to post or upload any other portable emulators here as long as you follow the rules set by Lazy and LiquidManZero

Emulators are fine, as long as they contain no commercial ROMs or BIOS
files. Public domain roms are fine, though.
Oh yeah, there are some "reverse engineered" bioses that are legal,
like the Cromwell BIOS for Xbox. But if it was dumped out of a
    console, it's probably not legal.

Zsnes itself has always been portable. By default, it always uses local configuration files and doesn't tamper with the registry at all. Same for VisualBoyAdvance. So the idea of having a specific build to make them "portable" doesn't make any sense.

If I'm not mistaken, there are a number of other emulators that also would work.

Actually, pretty much all the emulators out there use file-based, local directory data rather than registry data, for options and such. Hence, they should all be portable.

Incidentally, a good deal of the apps on my flash drive weren't intended to be portable, but I use them as such.
