I have some songs on a DVD-A disc i want to convert to MP3 so i can actualy listen to it without carring a DVD player around with me.

Well, the only way I know of that will work 100%, is the analog hole. In short, play it on one device, and record it using analog outputs on the player, and the analog input on your computer.

If it's in AC3, you could probably decrypt the disc with say DVD Decryptor, and extract the audio somehow. If it's in MLP Lossless, forget ripping it digitally. There's no good way of doing so (unless that changed recently).

If you can play it on a PC, you could also use something like TotalRecorder to intercept audio before it hits the speakers, and save it as MP3.

Good point, though I have a feeling that might not work on some setups at all. I'd suspect it depends on the software player.

From what I can tell, it doesn't matter where it comes from. TR, in particular, can either intercept and relay the audio, or completely pretend to be your audio output device, either way grabbing a complete copy of anything going to your speakers.
