Fucking hell. I am pissed.

I bought an award winning film that is in "2.0 surround sound". HOW THE FUCKING HELL DO YOU GET SURROUND SOUND OUT OF TWO GODDAMN SPEAKERS. Note to the person who printed the box, 2.0 is stereo and nothing more. you can make it SEEM like there is 3 dimensional sound, but it is what it is, STEREO. 2.1 isn't surround sound either. it lust adds to the frequency range and adds to the cost of manufacturing and boxing the speakers. You CANNOT have surround sound unless you have sound coming from all sides of you. 8.1 is the preferable surround sound experience but 5.1-7.1 will do.

Heh, pseudo surround sound (2.0) is decent on my TV speakers, surprisingly. But yes, true surround sound requires sound surrounding you, without having to bounce off of walls first, heh.

It's just a trick to get people who don't know anything to buy potentially lower quality products, when they're really wanting true surround systems, or are cheap bastards and don't want to get the real thing. Very annoying, since it confuses things, and is often totally useless. But then there's the occasional case where the feature really works right. Mostly it's just stereo, with some crappy widening effect done on it.
