  • GSHI Firefox Search Plugin

    Something I made due to boredom; simple, but nifty, heh.

    Save it to the searchplugins folder (By default it's: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins), and restart Firefox.

      Hmm...I saved it there, and restarted, but I don't see it anywhere. Is there anything special I must do?

        Whoops, I meant extract the archive to that location, not save it there, heh. SBT.

        Anyway, if you've already done that see the attached image below to see how to access it. If it still isn't working beyond that I dunno.

            Something else to note (this doesn't apply to the GSHI version of BSFree): Being that the search feature for GSHI is admin only, you will have to be logged in to http://gshi.org (no WWW.) in order to use it. If you prefer another domain of GSHI's, you may edit the parts highlighted in red in the gshi.xml file to whatever domain you use:

            Code:
            <SearchPlugin xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/2006/browser/search/">
            <ShortName>GSHI</ShortName>
            <Description>GSHI.org Search</Description>
            <InputEncoding>ISO-8859-1</InputEncoding>

            </Image>
            <Url type="text/html" method="POST" template="[color=red]http://gshi.org/[/color]?s=v2&admin=search">
              <Param name="searchinput" value="{searchTerms}"/>
              <Param name="games" value="on"/>
              <Param name="systems" value="on"/>
              <Param name="codes" value="on"/>
              <Param name="hackers" value="on"/>
              <Param name="sections" value="on"/>
              </Url>
            <SearchForm>[color=red]http://gshi.org/[/color]?s=v2&admin=search</SearchForm>
            </SearchPlugin>

              Heh, of course I didn't copy the 7z file into that directory; I extracted the contents into it. Still, it's not showing up as a search engine. It could be that I'm using Firefox 1.51 still, as I prefer some of the options of it to 2.0...

                Heh, ah. Was just noting it just in case.

                And yeah, that could be the problem.

                  Yeah, I installed it on my FireFox at work, which happens to be 2.0+. That's a pretty cool plugin
