The operator of the Kodewerx website, "Parasyte" was sentenced on April 1, 2007 to 44 months imprisonment and ordered to pay restitution of more than $1.2 million by the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington for three convictions of criminal wire fraud. It is unlawful to access computer systems or networks with the purpose of disturbing the computer system or network's normal operation. Individuals who willfully damage computer networks such as Nintendo WiFi Connection risk criminal prosecution under 18 U.S.C. ยง 1343. Offenders convicted of a felony violation of wire fraud laws face up to thirty years in fedaral prison, fined up to $1,000,000, or both
