When the first Neo Geo came out, I was turned off by its price, which I believe was around $650, US dollars, with games costing $100-$300. No way was I gonna drop that much cash for something untested & unproven, with no guarantee of support. But it turned out that the system & its games were quite good for the time.

I had a friend who dropped the bread for a console & several games. He let me play it, & I saw its controller had some issues, both with ergonomics &the design of the surroundings of its buttons. (Later controllers cured many of those issues.)

Another such system was the 3DO, an excellent system simply priced 'WAY too high, about $700 in 1993. It was doomed by that high price when the more-advanced PlayStation came out in 1995 priced at $299 US dollars. comparably priced in Japan.

These were two excellent gaming consoles killed by the mismanagement of their makers.
