  • Lovers Of Necco Wafers Are Reportedly Hoarding The Candy

REVERE, MA (CBS) – A world without Necco Wafers? The possibility apparently has some people terrified.

    NECCO® - Fine Candy Since 1847

Last month, it was reported that the New England Confectionery Co. would close its plant in Revere if it can't find a buyer by May 6th.

Besides the iconic Necco Wafers, the plant also produces famous candies like Clark bars and heart-shaped Sweethearts.

I've never heard of Necco Wafers or Clark Bars. If the sweethearts they are talking about are the ones with tiny phrases and taste like chalk around February, I wouldn't miss those.

They are the same ones that you remember.

Necco wafers are essentially edible, flavored chalk. But...there's something strangely addictive about them. I have fond memories of them from when I was younger.
