First off I'm gonna say I picked up both.
I waited in line for 6 hours for the ps3, and pre-ordered a Wii.
They are both very cool, but the only things I'm really disappointed in, is the games out right now. PS3 has just about nothing, but I'm very much liking the system already. The wireless controller is GREAT, and I never gave a damn about the rumble, so not having it is no big deal. I've been using it mostly to play FFXII on (Which by the way, is phenomenal) but it sucked how you had to buy a special adapter to put your ps2 saves on the ps3.
That's right the ps3 will NOT take a memory card at all. And this adapter is the biggest waste of money ever. All it can do is transfer a WHOLE memory card to the ps3. Not certain saves, and you can't transfer saves OFF of the ps3 either. It is simply from the memory card to the ps3. So I bought it, transfered my saves and then returned it. Jeff = 1 Future Shop = 0. Booya.
The system itself runs very hot, you can feel the warm air coming out of the back and the top of it, but I have had no problems playing it. No overheating, no crashing. Nothing.
Once some of the top games start coming out, it is going to be an incredible gaming machine.
On the Wii side of the fence..
The remote works a lot better than I could have imagined. Although the only games I've played are Wii Sports, and Zelda, I am having a lot of fun with it.
Wii sports is pretty basic, but it's a great tech toy, and really shows off the system's potential.
The new Zelda is great, too. I'm only about 20 hours in, as I stopped playing for the last week (I was waiting for some component cables to become available... I can't stand using AV cables. I DID manage to whip up a working component output signal using some wires and paper clips, but I thought I'd wait until the real thing came out)
Good game all in all, but you can tell it was really developed for the gamecube. The graphics aren't as good as they could be, and the control, while interesting, isn't quite as solid as it should be.
But again, once some of the top tier games come out, like Mario Galaxy, I think it will very quickly become an excellent system.
Did any of that make sense?
