If the martial artist could defend and attack with skill, bye-bye to the boxer.

As a boxer, I once fought a Black Belt karate master & easily beat him...but I agreed that if we'd been fighting "kickboxing", he woulda been a lot more competitive and mighta well beat me...and if we'd been fighting "anything goes", he woulda beat me with some ease.
I come from a smart family...In the Civil War, my great-grandpa fought for the WEST.

Boxer got to much restriction so they don't stand much of a chance.Maybe a kicker boxer that would been a diff story lol.as for the Boxer they doesn't have much of a defense bottom half of thier body so a good martial could easily bring them down kicking thier legs .

For a kickboxer, it should be a 50/50 half... I'm assuming anyway... I know some country-best kick boxers too.. should ask them next time i see them..

the Martial Artist because they are trained to kick as well as punch. Typically, these guys also train for years. Boxers, as far as I know, have a short active career.

I did Tae Kwon Do, and it definitely makes you more versatile than any boxer could be. Plus, my friend was in a sparring match once and nearly broke the other person's jaw with a kick. The fact that the opponent's foot gets to your face before your fist is even in their vicinity gives you your answer right there.

Boxers are powerful and swift with the arms, but I've learned several things that simply penetrate defenses below the torso.

The only issue is that a boxer is generally going to be larger and stronger than a martial artist; hence, if the martial artist is to win, he/she had better be a GOOD martial artist, with some degree of experience and skill.

In a free for all brawl, yeah the martial artist would take it.
But in a boxing match, boxer easily takes it.

Well, all conformities considered, I think that most of us would consider a martial artist someone who's got a generally sturdy form and performs some awesome high-flying kicks. But, personally, the level of a martial artist may not matter, because they'd rather be in lithe form, and so their speed and agility will take the advantage of the aforementioned (in the topic) boxer.

if they can hit the vitals of the boxer,it doesnt matter if your strong or not,a good blow to a vital area can finish the fight awfully quick.

A well-aimed strike to the back of the neck would do, I believe. First, knock them behind the knee and then strike the neck...It's awfully brutal (but not bloody), but that's probably what would happen.
