For people who don't read the articles, this study seems to be fairly narrow and preliminary. It deals with mostly "local information." Which is a term that takes a lot of words to define, but we can just read as whatever is in front of you regarding a consumer choice like buying a phone from limited choices here. In the text of the study, it's even mentioned that other analyses demonstrate lesser ability when the situation requires integrating multiple sources into a broader whole.

So this isn't some confirmation of the "autistic/INTJ supermen" thing that seems to crop up wherever nerds congregate. It's just an indication of one particular talent that might be shared among the group.
