  • Google prepares publishers for the release of Chrome ad-blocking

The biggest online advertiser will now block ads; the Web won't look the same.

The Google ad-blocker will block all advertising on sites that have a certain number of "unacceptable ads," according to The Wall Street Journal. That includes ads that have pop-ups, auto-playing video, and "prestitial" count-down ads that delay the display of content.
I'm already thinking of all of the annoying European download sites I'm stuck using at playgame.lebonforum.com. Constant captcha checks, pop up advertisements, auto playing videos, and annoying countdown timers taking entire minutes to download files at low speeds like 20KB/sec. bigfile.to is the site I'm stuck using the most and they are the slowest. I'm downloading a 1gb file now and it's already been going over 7 hours, and shows it has 6 more hours to go.
