  • Thor: Ragnarok Trailer

Calling all Marvelites. The first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok has landed, showing off first footage of Cate Blanchett's smoldering, devastatingly fierce Hela, a.k.a the Goddess of Death.

Despite the tones of Led Zeppelin, the stakes of the third Thor movie are dire: The trailer begins with the Asgardian Avengers (Chris Hemsworth) dangling in a dark pit by chains after an explosive encounter with Hela.

As EW reported earlier, Thor has lost his signature weapon, Mjolnir, and now we know why: he didn't misplace the artifact, Hela smashed it into a million pieces.

Oh shit, I like the title's font and colour scheme. And that's all I like.

I recall the gladiator battle involving Hulk and Thor from the original Marvel Ragnarok arc. However, I had no clue as to Hela's destructive power. First off...only one worthy of wielding Mjolnir may even so much as pick it up, let alone stop it in midflight and crush it with one hand. Hela is apparently on a whole other level. I gotta see this movie!

I remember reading a comic where Hulk was able to lift it a bit, much to Thor's dismay.

Yeah, true. Hulk was able to BARELY move Thor's hammer, but that's probably because it is NOT of infinite weight (more like a billion tons or so--and Hulk has shown himself capable of lifting mountains that heavy). However, to basically stop it in midflight with an outstretched hand...and then proceed to crush it like tinfoil? Holy Socks, Batman! I forgot to patch them up again...
