Your decision, your responsibility. It's unfortunate that she became blind, but...flea market.

Yeah, she seems pretty dim, but evidently you're not supposed to sell these things without a prescription, and according to the article, "the lawsuit states, "The manufacturers and distributors of the Bella contact lenses are repeat offenders of FDA regulations who intentionally sell their products in violation of state and federal regulations to businesses such as street vendors, beauty supply stores, flea markets, novelty stores, Halloween stores, convenience stores, and Internet based sites that do not validate prescriptions." So fuck those people for taking advantage of her ignorance.

If you didn't read the article too far in, they were cosmetic, color-changing lenses. I can sort of understand how someone might think it's OK to purchase so-called "universal fit", non-corrective lenses from something other than a medical supply company, even though it seems stupid if you think about how unlikely they are to actually fit your eyes properly (or to be sterile, as was the case here). The seller just puts them up next to the wigs and vampire teeth and makes it seem totally normal. Hell, I remember a couple of friends in the early/mid 00s showing me the random website they were planning to buy slit-pupil contacts from. It didn't set off any alarm bells for me at the time, but it probably should have.
