Yeah, using a gspro, and a 25 pin male-to-female 'printer' cable. What you have to do from there depends on exactly what version of windows you're using... If it's not nt/2000/xp, it's mostly a matter of tracking down some software and running it. If you are using one of the nt-based windows versions, you'll have to do something slightly funny, and I don't remember exactly what it is...
The two most useful programs to have, as far as gspro goes, are gscc and the 'official' hacking tools from datel (that I believe there's a copy of, in the downloads section on the site).
Other than using a gs or similar piece of hardware, there's not much else easy to do...
I believe, if what I found was correct, that model of compaq would almost certainly have at least one isa slot, and with an isa slot, a comms link card, and an old gs, you can have quite a power setup for playstation hacking. If you can find a comms link...
Oh yeah, if you buy a cable for the gspro, it's best to get one not more than about 5 or 6 feet long. Much longer than that, and the gs will continually have connection problems (usually). Though it may seem a bit odd, the best places to get a good cable for this, happen to be large national chain hardware stores...
Also, keep in mind that using a male-to-male or female-to-female converter on the end of a cable will not work for some reason...
That can be done, with the 'official' hacking utilies. Only real problem is you'd have to hit reset on the screen you want a screenshot of. If you just want to make screenshots, using a gspro isn't the best thing around, but might be the best you'd be able to find easily. If you have an xploder/xplorer/code breaker cart, it could be turned into a caetla that uses the same cable/port as a gspro, but can do things like video ram dumps while the game is going, in the exact position you want it to be in. The only thing that is a problem with that method, is you can't reflash the cart again unless you've got a mod chip instaled.
