    "MacArthur Park", Richard Harris (1968)
"Achy Breaky Heart", Billy Ray Cyrus (1992)

While MacArthur Park & Achy Breaky Heart weren't by any stretch my favorite songs, but the way I see it if Weird Al Yankovic makes a parody of your song, that means something. Both of those songs were parodied on his album Alapalooza album as "Jurassic Park" & "Achy Breaky Song".

    "True", Spandau Ballet (1983)
    "Sussudio", Phil Collins (1985)
"We Built This City", Starship (1985)
True, Sussudio, & We Built This City I enjoyed listening to on the radio. I don't know what those critics were talking about.

"Don't Worry, Be Happy", Bobby McFerrin (1988)
I remember Don't Worry Be Happy got a descent amount of play time, but this was a song, I really didn't care for one way or the other. For what ever reason, when I heard that song, it always made me think of basketball.

"Ice Ice Baby", Vanilla Ice (1990)
I remember hearing about the Vanilla Ice meltdown on an MTV show where he trashed the set because the VJ's were mocking him. If it weren't for this song that sounded remarkably similar to Queen's Under Pressure, I wouldn't have been introduced to phrases like "word to ya' mutha" or If there's problem, yo I'll solve it". I don't think of it as an inherently bad song, but it was one I enjoyed listening to during my early teenage years.

Some of my picks for worst songs would have to be:
Rocket Man by Elton John (1972)
Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me by Elton John (1974)
(His 1991 duet remake with George Michael didn't sound much better)
Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney (1979)
Karma Chameleon by Culture Club (1984)
One More Try by Timmy T (1990)
Both Sides of the Story by Phil Collins (1993)
Can You Feel the Love Tonight by Elton John (1994)

The good thing about Wonderful Christmastime is that I might only have to hear it once or twice a year. The truth is I absolutely hate that song. Its way too repetitive. Just me talking about it is going get it stuck in my head & drive me insane.

Come on sing it with me:
    "Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
    Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
    Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
    Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
    Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
    Simply having a wonderful Christmastime
    Simply having a wonderful Christmastime"

It just goes on forever & ever & ever in my head. I'll take any other Christmas song, just PLEASE not that one. Every man has his limits.

I like listening to some of Bob River's Christmas parody songs like:

        "The 12 Pains of Christmas"
"Chipmunks Roasting on an Open Fire"
        "The Chimney Song"
        "Walking 'Round in Women's Underwear"
        "Police Stop my Car"

Not all Christmas music is bad. Granted, I don't like hearing Christmas music two or three months ahead of time. That tends to make one very "BA-HUM-BUG-ish". I actually went & bought Twisted Sister's Christmas album a few years ago called "A Twisted Christmas" because of their metal version of "O Come All, Ye Faithful". I liked the way it sounded. The best part was, I paid a discounted price for it.

I used to work in the mall security business & they tend to get geared up for the Christmas shopping season a bit too early. I know that Black Friday is always the biggest shopping day, but the over saturation of Christmas music during the early parts of November, compounded with the large crowds, people fighting over parking spots, & other crazy people would psychologically wear me out. It used to get so bad that when I'd go some place during my off time, that I would feel like I was at work on the security job. If I was around large crowds at Wal-Mart, the flea market, or some other place I always felt like I was missing some of my security equipment like my radio. It makes me glad that I'm out of the mall security business. Since getting out of the business, its no where near as bad as it used to be, but I still prefer to avoid the large crowds. Most of my Christmas shopping is either done on-line, at the stores during the least busiest hours during the season, or I just try to do the Christmas shopping well before the season begins. The only time I go to any of the malls if only if I have to. The bad thing is my wife's birthday falls on January 4th. There's a store she likes shopping at there so I may have to get her a gift card directly from that store. I'll make sure to wait until after the Chirstmas crowds & the day-after Christmas crowds die down before going.

We even have a lite-rock radio station here in Mobile, that plays Christmas music right about the time of Black Friday. I personally don't mind listening to Christmas music sprinkled in about two weeks prior to Christmas & then gradually increase it over time the closer it gets, but I just don't like the over saturation of it. As far as the particular type of Christmas music I prefer, you might think I'm old fashioned, but I prefer the older Christmas hymns like: "O Come, All Ye Faithful", "Joy to the World", "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing", "Angels We Have Heard on High", & "O Holy Night".

I remember Twisted Sister having their Christmas album, even the "O Come All, Ye Faithful" gets overplayed on the radio like crazy where I'm at where I even can't listen to them when I like their album of Stay Hungry.

I actually like Christmas music, especially the classics. Cover versions are the he ones I do not like.

I also don't care for love songs in general.

It looks like I nailed the worst Christmas song. According to Watchmojo, they had "Wonderful Christmastime" listed at #1. Many of the others they listed I never heard of. Although, Twisted Sister's "Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" was an honorable mention for appearing on the list.

I just remembered Metallica had some kind of album of something called "Deck Em' All" instead of "Deck The Halls", or I think they did. I never looked into it to listen to it and my friend who told me was always a prankster. I just tried looking for it, can't find it on the internet so maybe he pranked me again 15 years later. Had me convinced until just 2 minutes ago, no mention of it on their "Kill Em' All" album wiki page. I think somebody needs to pitch that idea to them.
