  • That's It. I've Had Enough!

Billionaire Russian anti-virus developer Eugene Kaspersky has penned an angry blog post titled "That's It. I've Had Enough!" to complain about Microsoft and Windows 10. Specifically, Kaspersky argues that the way Microsoft bundled Defender with Windows 10 is anti-competitive: he says that Microsoft has created obstacles to third-party products and is acting against the interests of the developers of third-party security software.

Accordingly, Kaspersky says that he has filed complaints with competition authorities in the EU and Russia. He asks that they force Microsoft to cease the behavior he feels is anti-competitive.

I've always wondered why Microsoft hasn't been the only ones doing anti-virus software on their OS the entire time. I've always wondered why I need to run around and find virus scanners and pay for crap when Microsoft should have been doing the fixing for their OS. It is their product, I'd expect them to know how to handle it better than anyone else. I know they do constant updates, but I never really hear about them doing anything direct, just some random thing patched that we don't know if anybody on this planet would even have a reason to ever care about.

I'm not much for monopolies, but it's Microsoft and nobody will ever win anything against them for this. I can't remember how Datel or whoever it was dealt with Microsoft disabling 3rd party controllers, I think they lost.

I had no idea the Russian dude was a billionaire. If you've got billions, unless you are hardcore about your job/hobby, I don't know why you'd ever care. If I had over a billion dollars I could probably live the rest of my life without ever getting a job as crazy and lazy as that sounds and I can do the things that I care about rather than be a miserable wage slave or die.

Microsoft WANTS us to have issues with their software, because that gives their crappy "complaint department" something to not do anything about, which only gives us even more to complain about. Please put on your anti-sarcasm scuba gear now, before you drown in anti-Microsoft vitriol.

      Salty rant over.
      Tempus fugit, ergo, carpe diem.

Time flies, therefore, seize the day.

I'm not even sure why that didn't cross my mind considering how much I already blast my work place for the same type of bullcrap. I'll take Mr. Kaspersky's thing, otherwise Microsoft could just as well start making up whatever they want and who'd know the difference? Having the monopoly and no 3rd party involvement in your stuff is only good assuming there'll never be any kind of corrupt behavior, but it's Microsoft and they've been a bit shady forcing Windows 10 into people's faces nonstop for a year or more.
