  • The Book of Giants found amid the Dead Sea Scrolls

More than 60 years ago, excavations at the Qumran Caves revealed almost one thousand ancient scrolls that offered important glimpses into humanity’s past.

Archaeologists were stumped to find one unusual text among these, a scroll that offers clues regarding the demise of the Nephilim. It is called The Book of Giants.

The Bible makes several references to the Nephilim, and most of them can be found in the book of Genesis.

Wow, that sounds like a weird book. Why would you post an attack of the titans advertisement here? That's not based on it if the book of giants was just found.

Check the source link before you start analyzing my post with your electron microscope. It's in there. And why do you give a damn about what and why I post?

^This. The game "Attack on Titan" is based on a fictional return of the Nephilim to Earth to wreak havoc. The Book of Giants is a genuine historical record of these giants, and their dealings with humans, and each other. Thus, the two items mentioned in Dlevere's post are, in fact, related. That does NOT mean the game "Attack on Titan" is a possible future scenario. The Nephilim became extinct thousands of years ago, as a result of the Great Flood (you know, Noah and the Ark).

The headlines are just rubbish. There are translations of this book available since around the 1960s, not so long after they were discovered. The discovery isn't really a news item. I think the news item is that UFO enthusiasts are recycling old blog posts or something.

I don't really trust secular sources with bible films tho. They always change things. Take how they made Moses white in Exodus: Gods and Kings, and The original 10 commandments. While I like 10 commandments it would have been better if he were cast with a Jew. Also I didn't like how they had God tell Noah to kill his baby in Noah.

Hollywood is very well known to embellish Biblical history because it is taking "artistic liberty" with the plot of its many religious-based movies. It is not a new thing. And, consider the fact that Hollywood cast Charlton Heston in the role of Moses in the original Ten Commandments movie because he was one of their most popular actors at the time. It worked--it became one of the most popular religious-based movies of all time. It's still shown every Easter.

Yeah, I like the original 10 commandments and the first remake with dougray scott even tho they take liberties with the story. It's a shame that it's so acceptable to take such liberties with biblical stories tho. I don't like the miracle-less Exodus: Gods and Kings tho. If they ain't gonna make it more and more closer to the bible I don't see the point of remaking it. I've already seen bad adaptions of the story. How about a good one instead?

The book of nephid sounds scary tho. Well, the visuals do anyway. I'm sure the original didn't have pictures and it was artists that first drew their own interpretation of it.

The earliest pieces of literature did indeed not have any sort of illustration. At the time, it was deemed more important to conserve space for the written word, as paper/papyrus/clay (whatever) was expensive and thus waste was highly frowned upon.

The few descriptions we have of the Nephilim list them as "Men of renown" and "Heroes of old". They were of mighty stature and very tall (as in around 20 feet tall for the largest), and often lived very long lives. However, they were often given to evil deeds, and thus were punished by being extinguished in the Great Flood.
