  • Fake Gaming Torrents Download Unwanted Apps Instead Of Games

According to Symantec researchers, who have been trawling popular torrent websites, there's an active distribution campaign going on that delivers potentially unwanted apps (PUA's) posing as torrents for games like Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, The Witcher 3, World of Warcraft: Legion, The Walking Dead: Michonne, and several others.

Yet another reason why I never deal with torrents. First came viruses, now it's unwanted apps instead of the games you are supposed to be downloading. What's next, direct hacking of your PC?

This is nothing new, this has been around since Kazaa and everything that came after Napster back in the early 2000s. I would have assumed this would be common knowledge by now since it's been almost 20 years at least. ERMAGERD! ER DERNLERDED THER WERTCHER THRER! ERT WERZ 1MB!

I wouldn't be surprised if there are people that would be fooled by just the file sizes thinking the game downloaded fast when the reason a +20gb game downloaded in 1 minute is because it's not 1mb.

You'd be surprised. For a good idea of the type of people who WOULD be fooled, I refer you to this site's "DUMBASS DAILY" thread.
