  • Xbox One vs. PS4

My son has an Xbox One & I have a PS4. IMO, PS4 has it all over the xbox. While the graphix are close, the PS4 loads games much faster, and its various features are moch more-accessible more-quickly.

I played Black Ops 3 on both machines, & found PS4 loads new games much-faster and goes thru the ending sequences quicker. Also, the PS4 controller is easier on the hands.

I know each machine has its fans. Any other readers here compared the 2 consoles & formes an opinion?

I own a PS4 and I have never touched an Xbox One.
I enjoy my PS4, but a lot of the AAA titles on both consoles are buggy as shit.
I wish Sony would put more PS2 games their shop because there aren't that many...... (I am enjoying Dark Cloud 2 though.)
The PS4 controller is very comfortable and I can hold it for a long time without my hands hurting.
In order for me to even give any critique of the Xbox One, I would have to play one....

At the end of the day, I would rather play my older consoles or play on my PC.
    I'm retired from code hacking.
    I do not take requests!

PS4 is made as gaming machine, xb one is made as multimedia machine later convert to be gaming machine.
PS4 has sightly better tech specs than xb one
      GPU: PS4 1080p @ 59.94 and xb one 900p@60
PS4 has DDR5 RAM and xb one has DDR3 RAM
and PS4 out selling xb one for 2 years right now

I absolutely despise the PS4 controller for anything that involves using both sticks. To me, the 360 controller was the best. I don't care for the XB1 controller either. Other than that, the PS4 is mostly better. Among other things, PS4 doesn't force multi-gigabyte game updates in order to actually boot the game. It also has a usable dashboard design, because they took the PS3 one and tried to improve on it, rather than completely starting over like the fucking idiots at MS. The XB1 dashboard is absolutely horrible. The 360 one feels too fucking slow at times, but it's still a damn good design. I could probably go on all day, but I've said most of this before. I've probably done a dozen or more blogs on gaming the past couple years. http://viper.shadowflareindustries.com/index.php?rants

I quickly adapted to using the ps4 controller, but I like the 360 controller's location of the right-hand stick. XB1 controller is just-adequate to me.

My son said initializing his xb1 was a pain in the ass, while I set up ps4 in less than 5 minutes.I then took a nap while it downloaded all updates in rest mode, & installed them in a jiffy when I booted the console back up.

Same for booting up games. Ps4 does it much faster than xb1.

So far, both online servers have worked seamlessly.

I'm interested in any other issues anyone has with either console. (BTW, I also have a 360, which I'm not about to abandon!)

I got my nephew an XBox One for his birthday, and the setup was ridiculous. Part of the problem was the TV it was hooked up to was 720p max, and the setup screens didn't scale worth a damn, but setting up an account was forced on you as part of the setup, it required a credit card immediately, and requested multiple sign-ins without making it clear whether it wanted to the adults' account or the kids' account. It kept rejecting passwords for mysterious reasons, and at one point it fell into what seemed like an endless loop of signing into each account in turn to verify something or other. It was maddening. I think it took us over an hour to get it set up, and then it took a further half an hour to install one title so he could play.

It would probably be simpler if you just setup the adult account and let the kid play on that, but then they can try to buy whatever the like with the card attached to the account. Maybe you can disallow new purchases in the settings. I don't know. Regardless, it was a nightmare.

That's why you create silver account(s) instead of gold and use gift cards. Fuck giving MS credit card info.

I don't recall there being an option for that in the setup, but I didn't really get involved until about 15 minutes in, and they'd already put in credit card info. Or to be more precise, it was a prepaid Visa debit card with about $10 left on it.

The font for the on-screen instructions was so tiny at 720p you couldn't be more than 5 feet away from the TV, and there were no pack-in instructions covering how to set that stuff up, or bypass it. If the MS help-line hadn't been closed, I probably would have spent a little time swearing at them. I shouldn't have to research online how to properly get from turning on the console to playing the first game.

I've had XBL for years without ever entering CC info into an Xbox. If the XB1 interface is really so shitty about it, you could register a free account through Xbox.com then just download it to the console. Either way, it's always been possible.
