Colombians Are Not Very Happy With Steve Harvey Right Now

On Sunday night, the host of the Miss Universe pageant, Steve Harvey, made the biggest mistake the host of the Miss Universe pageant can possibly make: He crowned Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez, as the winner, before coming back on stage, apologizing, dethroning Gutierrez, and crowning the real winner, Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, in what was the most awkward two minutes of live television since Kanye’s infamous “Imma let you finish.”

These seems to have been everywhere, had no idea there was some kind of miss universe and at the same time couldn't care, what's with all of the weird beauty pageant junk in this country??? I've been here from birth and nowhere else and it's something I would expect to disappear for being such an odd thing, some subjective load of junk about who's most beautiful and talented based on border-line nothing.

Miss Universe has been around for decades now. I tend to find it weird and anachronistic too, but through my theater work I've met contestants and people who coach and consult for them, and all sorts. They all seem to love doing it, and they work incredibly hard at it, if it's anything beyond like Ms. County Fair. Even though I don't get it personally, because of those experiences I just view it as a quirk in our society, rather than some exploitative thing to get peeved about.
