  • Once In A Lifetime Gigantic Retro Collection Hits eBay

    By Tom Charnock

For many gamers, eBay represents the only way to secure those elusive retro items that rarely appear at car boot sales. Times have changed for retro collectors, and sadly it seems that the days of finding a hidden gem are long gone. Occasionally though, something incredible comes up, and this is one such occasion: an instant collection of 163 consoles, 69 peripherals and 3 coin ops has come up for sale. With a starting price of almost $106,475.08 the collection does not come cheap, but upon closer inspection it contains some absolutely stunning items.

The seller explains that many of the consoles and peripherals were purchased from games shops in the Tokyo district of Akihabara, and many have been stored in their cellophane wrapping from new. Containing multiple development and special edition systems, this is a truly gargantuan haul:

As stated above, the starting price for this little lot is a cool $106,475.08 so a little outside of many gamers' price range, but we're sure this collection is the stuff of dreams for most.

One man's collection becomes another man's collection. I still have amassed a fair collection mostly after seeking rare games like a Gold Zelda GB Camera and Undake 30 cart, and others. No intentions of parting with any of them soon.
