The two PSX emulator's I use are pSX, and ePSXe.
I really can't recommend one over the other, however from my experiences with them:
pSX is easy to configure, works great on some/most games, yet has issues with others. Has a cheat plugin, but the last time I checked it was out of date.
ePSXe takes some time to configure, however when you've finally got things configured, it is actually a pretty good emulator. You may need different GPU's/SPU's for some games, though, which kinda sucks...
This one has an up to date cheat plugin, I believe you can even make your own codes with it.

Ok, at the moment I'm in jail, LB becasue you're really at fault, could you come to Ireland and turn yourself in, if it's not to much of a bother?
I'm gonna go with the method of studying, it's old but it's almost impossible to predict the questions, oh well self tutoring should be fun.I bring chaos everywhere! Behold! My power can cause chaos to myself!

Are there any update to this thread? I am looking for a PSx Emulator. The ePSxe and the PSx didn't quite work out to well on either my old or new laptop.

I checked out Zophar and i can find a PSX or PS2 emulator that allows Game saving, booting from an official PS disc, Gamepad compatibility, no rom or bios needed, and a game enhancer built in.
Does any body know of a good emulator. I want to play FF VII yet i am never home long enough to play it.
Thanks

I'd recommend either pcsx or ePSXe (since pcsx2, the only ps2 emulator that works, totally lacks psx emulation beyond the I/O processor), and the SSSPSX Pad Plugin from pcsx2 ( http://www.pcsx2.net/downloads.php?p=plgn ). You'll want Pete's GPU and CDROM plugins, and EternalSPU for the sound. There's no such thing as a psx emulator with code support...
pcsx has bios emulation, and with the cdrom plugin(s) can run the game off an original disc... So that's probably the best choice.
In theory, you can use the PEC plugin to use codes, but I've never had any luck getting it to actually use codes.
