  • No Fix Yet For Metal Gear Solid 5's Save Corruption Bug

    By GameSpot Staff

Here's how you can play the Quiet missions and not run this risk of losing your save.

Konami has provided new details regarding the recently discovered Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain save-corruption bug related to the character Quiet. The publisher says in a post on its website that it has identified the exact trigger for the bug. A patch to fix the problem is coming later, but for now, Konami has provided instructions for how to avoid it.

As stated previously, this bug can be triggered in Episode 29 and Episode 42 when Quiet is used as a buddy character. However, Konami now says you can still use Quiet during these missions and not run the risk of losing your save if you use the Butterfly Emblem through the mission. Alternatively, you can complete the mission and not lose your save by avoiding raising your Bond level with Quiet to Max.

Additional information regarding this save-corruption bug, including details about when the patch will be ready, will be announced "soon." The problem is affecting all versions of The Phantom Pain.

"In the meantime, we apologize deeply for the problem and thank you for your continued patience as we work to resolve the issue," Konami said.

Although The Phantom Pain received glowing praise upon release on September 1st, the game's launch was marred somewhat by servers issues that lasted days. These problems, which affected the game's Forward Operating Base multiplayer mode, have now been largely fixed.

The Phantom Pain will grow next month with the release the game's head-to-head multiplayer mode, Metal Gear Online for consoles. This multiplayer offering is coming in January 2016 for PC.

Earlier this year, Konami announced that it had started development on a new Metal Gear Solid game and was actively recruiting for the project. Meanwhile, series creator Hideo Kojima is expected to exit Konami, according to GameSpot's sources.

Metal Gear Solid V Quiet bug fixed on PC and PS4

        By Daniel Perez

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain fans can breathe a sigh of relief today as Konami has fixed a major bug that involved the use of Quiet during certain missions.

The “Quiet bug” fix has been implemented on the PC and PlayStation 4 versions of the game, with remaining platforms expected to follow soon. When exactly that will happen has yet to be revealed, but it’s reassuring to know Konami is currently working on it.

Quiet appears to be one of the most popular companions to use in MGS 5: TPP, which makes this particular bug that much more devastating.

Konami revealed the bug would activate if Quiet was used in select missions, which would lead to a user’s save file to become corrupt and unusable.

If you’re playing a version of the game that has yet to be fixed, be sure to avoid Quiet in Mission 29 and Mission 42.
