  • Shuriken USB The Gecko USB Clone

Hi guys. I have come to you with good news.
I have purchased what is known as "The Shuriken USB."

    "What is Shuriken USB?"

Shuriken USB is a clone of Gecko USB. You can hack Wii and Gamecube games using the Shuriken USB.
If you have ever wanted to hack Wii and Gamecube games, now is your chance.
You can purchase it here: http://www.staffs2.webspace.virginme...uriken_usb.htm

You can get it for around $40, but you should email him here: [email protected]
to see if he has anymore in stock.

This thing is just like the gecko, the only thing that is different is the Shuriken USB itself.
I have tested: Mega Man 9, 10, and Goldeneye Wii with it. This thing is amazing, grab it while you still can.

    Happy hacking.
    I'm retired from code hacking.

I don't know much about Wii hacking. I have a Wii. What is this Shuriken/Gecko? Can I view memory while playing and possibly have a debugger for doing breakpoints? Or is it like a cheat device with code types you just input like the old gameshark/codebreaker/action replay sort of things?

You can do all of those things.
Just google Gecko USB and the Shuriken can do the exact same thing.

I've had a Wii for a while but I don't know a thing about hacking them. So do I just buy this, plug it into the back and turn it on like an old PS1 gameshark? Anything special needed for firmware like the PS3 needing 3.55 OFW or lower? All I've ever done is PS1, PS2, PS3, Nintendo and SNES and from I can tell the process is very different with each console.

You definitely need to have CFW on your Wii, and Gecko OS is required if memory serves. I don't know what OFWs can be exploited anymore, but it's likely all of them. Nintendo was never that successful in closing the holes, and the Wii hasn't had a system update in about 3 years, I think.

Edit: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Homebrew_status. Yeah, 4.3 is the last version Nintendo released, so all of them are exploitable somehow, even without hardware mods.

You need: The Homebrew Channel, Gecko OS installed, some games to exploit or some game channels (like Mega Man 9/10).
You can learn how to get the Homebrew Channel installed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m70dCXkn1CE

I'm assuming that at this point, your Wii is on version 4.3.
You can get the homebrew channel installed on any version of the Wii, excluding the Wii Mini.
All you do to use the Shuriken is: grab a usb cable that plugs into the Shuriken and your PC (I'm using my PS3 controller USB charger), install the drivers on your PC to use WiiRD on your PC, a download of WiiRD and the Shuriken USB itself.

You plug the Shuriken itself into the memory card slot of the Wii itself, then you connect the Shuriken to your PC via USB cable, then you open WiiRD GUI and start hacking from there.

CosmoCortney does an excellent job of showing you how to use WiiRD in his tutorial videos. I recommend watching all of his tutorial videos.

I got homebrew channel on this thing now and I've made contact with the dude using the email address. Can't figure out where to find WiiRD, keep getting led to Gecko site. Completely foreign world to me. I'm just blankly staring at these things on WiiBrew.org wondering how to even use them at this point. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Gecko_OS

Can I just copy games to my Wii? This thing sounds like it's going through hell trying to read everything going from room to room in Metroid Prime 3. I hear it and I get that same bad feeling I get when I remember my PS1 beating up my games, it's loud and slow. I makes me think of playing Resident Evil 1 going from room to room, the door loading screen was always slow and the PS1 loud, and after a while I start seeing scratches and it just gets slower and slower until 1 day certain rooms stop loading, and then more and more rooms and a day came when the game wouldn't even start. I've rarely ever played this thing, it's been sitting around for many months collecting dust. It sounds like it's trying to kill disks as it reads them.

Now that you got the homebrew channel get something like Configurable USB Loader and an external HDD and copy your games to it.
