It's safe to say that an updated port of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 for Nintendo 3DS has been on the cards ever since the original title hit Sega's 3D Classics range. Confirming this, the Japanese software developer recently updated their Archives website to feature this new release, along with adding a few snazzy extra details on the upcoming port.
Like its predecessor, this updated re-release of Sonic The Hedgehog 2 will feature multiple levels of depth for those playing with the 3D depth slider turned on. With the likes of Hill Top Zone and Casino Zone no doubt offering new angles to admire, fans of the original will also be pleased to hear that Tails can be controlled by another player too. Gamers who both own the game will be able to connect their 3DS handhelds and take control of our two favourite speedy protagonists.
While a release date is yet to be set for the West, Japanese gamers will be enjoying this updated offering as early as the 22nd of July. Stay tuned for further updates on when this promising re-release is localized.
