Mel Gibson Racist?

I'm curious what other GSHI'ers think about this. I'm guessing everyone heard of it since it's pretty big news right now. Alot of times when people get drunk they say stupid things they normally wouldn't say when they are sober. Sometimes it's just something said out of stupidity, but sometimes it's from something inside that you normally don't let out when you have your guards up when sober.

I think it's a possibility that he is. I remember how many Jews were calling the Passion of the Christ a antisemetic movie and Gibson denied it. But after his comments perhaps it was just a bit racist.

Mel Gibson is Catholic - I'm sure he doesn't have the best of feelings toward the Jewish community. But he also doesn't normally insult them.

His comments were probably rooted in actual feelings that he has, but they would certainly have not come out were it not for his intoxication.

Many Jewish people aren't all that fond of prodistents, but they would not normally voice their opinions with such fervor.

I think that it's a shame Mel Gibson said what he did, but I don't think he's as big of a biggot as some people are making him out to be.

Alcohol will make you say things that you normally wouldn't say, but that you want to say. So his intoxication is no excuse. However, is anyone really surprised? Someone from the entertainment business did something stupid. It's pretty common
