Halo 5 Guardians got two new live-action trailers this weekend teasing the conspiratorial nature of the story, while further pushing its "Hunt the Truth" campaign. One version features Master Chief, and the other features the same scenario but from Spartan Jameson Locke's perspective.
In Chief's version, we see John-117 approach a wounded Locke, who is lying wounded against a monument of the legendary Spartan. The entire time, Chief speaks to Locke, asking angrily if the destruction around them is what he intended all along, demanding that the manhunter reflect upon his mistakes. Then he raises his pistol, preparing to execute the younger Spartan.
Locke's version is pretty much the same, just with the roles reversed. He approaches Chief as the hero Spartan lies injured at teh base of his own monument, disoriented. Locke, in his monologue, implies that the ruined city is Chief's doing.
Which version is real? Not knowing seems to be the point, as both trailers end with that "Hunt the Truth" tease again; no doubt the ongoing ad campaign will reveal a little more soon. Until Halo 5 is actually out this fall, however, check out the two trailers below.
