I installed win10 on one of my laptops, haven't fired it up in awhile. Guess I'll check out the new update.

I assumed this referred to some images side by side, and in the quote it looks like there are picture links but seem to be broken.

I also use Firefox. For some reason, they only show up if they are in your cache. Might be a hotlink issue on Neowin's side.

Next Windows 10 PC Build Possibly Due in Late February

                  By Rod Trent

With Windows 10 for phones Technical Preview finally making its way out to select handsets yesterday, many have already started wondering if a new Build for the PC is on the horizon. Microsoft promised quicker Build releases, after all. And, if rumors that Windows 10 might make an official OEM launch sometime in June or July can be believed, Microsoft needs to hurry it up.

I suppose it's safe to assume those asking are part of the larger group whose Lumia models were not included in yesterday's first Technical Preview wave. It was like waking up Christmas morning to find the Grinch stole only the presents with your name on them and you had to sit there in silence, watch everyone else gleefully rip into their stash, and then pretend to be happy for them. Of course, if you watch Twitter, no one is happy and no one is sitting in silence.

Well, Christmas for everyone else may come yet this month.

When asked about a new PC Build for Windows 10, ringmaster and chief of the Windows Insider program, Gabe Aul, said this…
@callum90ish @thekotpsot No :-) We don't expect to do another PC build tomorrow or following week, but do expect another WU update next week — Gabriel Aul (@GabeAul) February 13, 2015
                  And, later…
                  @BartokGabi17 @callum90ish @thekotpsot Yes, I said faster than the time between 9879 and 9926. It will be. — Gabriel Aul (@GabeAul) February 13, 2015
So, Gabe has gone back to being riddle master. It seems to be a role he enjoys very much. I likened him to the Riddler from the old Batman TV series, but maybe it's more like the interaction between Bilbo Baggins and Gollum in The Hobbit…

It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt.
It lies behind stars and under hills,
                  And empty holes it fills.
It comes out first and follows after,
                  Ends life, kills laughter.

It was a long couple months between Builds 9879 and 9926. So, Microsoft has quite a span to work with when fulfilling its promise of quicker Build releases. 1 month, 29 days?

Important to note in Gabe's first response, though, is that something should come through Windows Update next week for Windows 10 Build 9926. As always, it's good to stay on top of updates, even for a beta product. The updates could be required to successfully install the next available Build. And, if that's the case – if the Windows Update delivery is in preparation for a new Build – it could still come this month.

I am not a fan of Windows 8, I will just say that outright. There were many mistakes that Windows made with Windows 8, and I'm pretty sure we all know what those are. As for me though, I used to use Windows 8 so that way I'd still have mainstream support, but when my desktop decided not to update to 8.1, I went back to 7. Because there are many things I hate about it that everyone else does, so again pretty sure we all know what they are. Seeing that they learned from their mistakes, this makes me happy that they're going to disable the start screen for desktops. The way I see it, there's a pattern. I don't EXACTLY remember how the pattern starts but I know how it goes somewhat. I'll start with 2000 since I think that's where it started.

Windows 2000 - Regarded as bad.
Windows XP - BEST THING IN THE WORLD (Regarded as good. Just a little more emphasis.)
Windows Vista - SO MANY BUGS! AUGHH! (Regarded as bad. More emphasis)
Windows 7 - MICROSOFT FIXED VISTA!~ (Regarded as good.)
Windows 8/8.1 - WHY MICROSOFT?! (Emphasized regarded as bad.)
Windows 10 - They're fixing it again? Hopefully it's better than 8. (Possible regarding of being good.)

It seems to me as if they have to fix Windows every second release. Like XP is a redesign of 2000, 7 is a redesign of Vista, and 10 is gonna be a redesign of 8. At least that's how I see it. I'm glad they're doing what they're doing with 10 and would have preferred that WINDOWS 10 be the REAL windows 8. Somehow I feel as if 8/8.1 was a test of the concepts they introduced. But I think that's enough of my ranting. lD

With 8, Microsoft compromised familiarity by trying to thrust into the future with their attempt to blend tablet and desktop. It wasn't received well at all, basically because people didn't understand it and refused to try.

I've been watching the progression of 10 development, and it appears to be going from 8, to a good blend of 8 and 7. People will understand how to use it, as flagship controls are placed back to where they belong. But, additionally, 8 aspects like apps and metro-style boxes still exist, just more subtly and contained.

Plus, Cortana is a really cool addition. Like Siri for your Windows desktop.

I am really glad they've finally figured that out. Personally, I think the whole metro interface thing works better on Windows Phone and Surface. Plus, I'm not a fan of the new interface myself. Having the start menu back is a godsend, and I hope they learned that compromising familiarity isn't a good idea. Also, Windows 10's getting Cortana? I knew it was a matter of time before Microsoft gave you a personal assistant on your computer. Although it probably wouldn't have a use for people if they didn't have a microphone, but my laptop has an integrated microphone, so it doesn't bug me as much. ^^' The whole Metro interface disliking also affects my perception of the XBOX One, but that's another story. I do tolerate Metro in XBOX 360 because of it getting started in 2011 on that and Windows Phones (able to become familiar with), other than that though, I dislike Metro strongly.
