  • XBox One price drops to $349 once again starting January 16

    By Ozzie Mejia

The Xbox One had a great holiday season, spurred on by its $349 pricing promotion. It was such a good deal that some of our Shacknews community members wondered why Microsoft would ever let the price cut lapse? After briefly allowing the price to rise back up, Microsoft has apparently had a change of heart and will restore the $349 price point starting today.

"Building off a record-setting holiday, we are excited to announce a new promotion in which fans in the U.S. can buy an Xbox One at a special price of $349, starting today, January 16th, from their preferred retailer," Corporate Vice President of Marketing for Xbox Mike Nichols said on Xbox Wire. "We are thankful for all the excitement for Xbox One this holiday and proud to offer more fans the amazing games lineup, Xbox Live gaming community, and continual innovation that Xbox One fans have come to enjoy."

No word on what this means for anyone that purchased an Xbox One in the last 12 days, but for those holding out for another price cut, the time to strike appears to be today.

They wanna catch up to PS4 in sales. If Sony wanted to give them a hard time they could drop the price of the PS4 by 50 bucks too.
