  • Proposed Words/Phrases for Common Annoying Occurrences

Crash Test Dummy: Someone who experiences game freezes, console crashes/bricks, and peripheral failures, at a frequency higher than chance normally allows.

Phone-wallie: someone who experiences "phone-walling"--to call someone when they're not available/away from their phone, or to experience irritating "busy signals", at a rate higher than chance normally allows.

Carmino Effect: the often aggravating tendency of vehicles in cross traffic to space themselves in such a way as to prolong the time needed to wait to cross the street. Term is a derivative of "domino effect".

Red Light Magnet: someone who seems to hit red lights at intersections at a rate higher than chance would ordinarily allow.

Resistentialist: someone who experiences unusual resistance getting various "inanimate" objects to work/operate properly.

Typo Magnet: someone who experiences an unusual tendency to mistype words, including those which s/he can spell correctly.

Typo Resistance: a strange tendency for typos to seemingly refuse to be deleted--ergo, you keep hitting incorrect keys in your increasingly frustrated attempt to eliminate the typo. This seems to increase in frequency/difficulty the more frustrated one gets, further exacerbating the person's frustration.

Jumping-beaner: someone who experiences the dropping/spilling of various inanimate objects, sometimes without even touching them, at a rate higher than chance normally allows.

Cloaking-device Effect: the tendency to experience an unusual difficulty in locating what you are looking for (including on Google! ). Of course, when you don't need to locate the item, it's in plain sight.

All grand ideas! According to studies, there's a large cluster of people who tend to drop things more often than chance would indicate in the American Southwest. I suggest you start a crowd-funding campaign, so you can travel there to beta test your term. Do let me know if it catches on!

That would be funny. Besides, you'd probably find piles of discarded junk of some minimal value just by sifting through the sandy Southwestern soil (if you don't mind dehydration and sunburn being your constant companions). Atari E.T., anyone?

There needs to be one for "defiance of all seemingly logical understanding nonstop". Any IT support person would fall under that along with many others.

Caller: This doesn't work, I've restarted it 12 times.
IT: I know because I've seen you do it, but try restarting 1 more time.
        Caller: WTF!? Works perfect!
        IT: WTF!? Are you joking!?

          How about these two gems:

"Keyboard not detected. Please press any key to continue."

"Mouse not detected. Please click OK to continue."
