  • Dragon Age: Origins free on Origin

    By Connor Sheridan

Dragon Age: Origins is free on EA's similarly named download service through October 14th, the publisher announced Wednesday.

All users who add the 2009 RPG to their Origin Game Library during the "On the House" promotion will receive permanent access at no cost.

Users starting up the game for the first time may encounter error messages about server connection issues, but they will not affect playing through the campaign and can be safely ignored, EA said.

In Dragon Age: Origins, players create a hero from a selection of unique backgrounds and don the mantle of a Grey Warden to fight back a rising blight. Their decisions will shape the fantasy realm of Thedas, and in turn impact the events of Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The promotion lets potential fans get a taste of the fantasy series before Dragon Age: Inqusition's launch on PC, Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360 and PS3 on November 18th in North America and November 21st in Europe.

Previous free games offered on Origin have ranged from Battlefield 3 to Wing Commander 3.
