  • Original Starwars coming to DVD finally...

Here's something I will wanna see. I haven't seen Star Wars as it originaly was in a long time so I forgot how it was. I know that those aliens are sposed to sing a different song to Jabba the hut. And I hear that scene where Darth vader talks to the emporer in Episode V was originaly there, but it had a old woman instead. I can't wait to see what is really different.

The star wars story is the 3rd one down.

I was sure that this would happen. Sucks they're doing only a limited run of them though.

hmmmm...another run at it again, the whole star wars mess was good, well 20 to 30 years ago, but these days, hello, how about soem new ideas some new stories, and besides, old run or not, who has not seen and bruned into memory the 'original' star wars anyway? Well clear to see you all have not, but you all do worry me as far as the whole entertainment thing goes, it is almost like you all have been living under a few rocks for the past 20 or so years.

Not fussing or anything, just makes me wonder 'how' in this time and age 'anyone' who is even alive, brain damaged or whatever, in a comma even, cannot even rememebr the original star wars movies, heck everyone has those rotting up in the attic on beta tapes... BETA of all things, yes Beta still runs and works, but star wars again, it is more hype then good really, it's time is over...still I yet to have to wonder again how anyone again ina coma or whatever can even not remember the original star wars otherwise, hell they show it over and over 88 times a year on TBS TBT USA and all other channels....

ehh well something the skywalker ranch wants money for but whatever, that is life, people love to buy trash all the time it seems, I still do not see the whole big deal, again who does not remember star wars, and if you do not, serious, are you really that behind in the world of entertainment, do you know what a movie theather is, go look one up, go give it a try...sometimes you all here act really like you have been living in a true biosphere for 30 years or so. And heck if remaking and reprinting junk is so great, as far as DVD goes, why do they not reprint The Wizard Of Oz is black and white like it was originaly? If reprinting junk is all that greta you know....

By the way for those who do not know, Blu-Ray DVDs are now being used, which are far better then normal DVDs, so will this mess be on Blu-Ray or not? and if not, well hell that is just another rehash of the crap again when they decide to do so in a few years, already they are putting all other DVD titles on Blu-Ray now released May 23rd, grab a few hundred like I am going to do---again just a small ehads up as soemtimes you people really do scare me, not in a bad way, but really, are all of you that far behind in pure entertainment?

Again sometimes, I just have to wonder...we all do have or otherwise know about running water do we not? :

If they hadn't gone and done one of those "eh, well we're remastering the movies, might as well change some stuff while we're at it" sort of things, and just stuck with remastering the movies it would've been fine. I'd be rather surprised if they didn't do just that this time. Of course, some people might be upset if they don't leave the nasty film spots in this version.

I'm of the impression that only movies with a high definition source are being put out on Blu-Ray, at least so far. That might just mean they faked it, but still... Until you can get a cheap product of revserse engineering player for Blu-Ray, there's no point in getting one. Part of the copy protection makes it trash the signal if you're not using an HDMI cable to your $2000+ HD screen, and that screen supports whatever resolution the video is running at. If that's not actually what it's doing, it's something similar...

Well, Lucas Held off on doing the orginal star wars on DVD until just a year or two ago, despite how long the medium had been around. He didn't even put the original remastered Star wars on DVD. He only had them on VHS. I imagine he is holding off on doing blueray for a while like he did with the DVD. I guess so that people will wind up buying the DVD first and then when they are dying for something new in star wars they will buy the Blueray versions.

I spose when I buy the new collection I'll give my "old" collection to my brother. I don't care to have 2 copies of the same movie around if I know someone else would enjoy my spare.

Well, I agree with that, that star wars mess and otherwise, as for the Blu-Ray mess, I am not sure, I know as of near the end of May ALOT of movies already out there is being re-released on Blu-Ray, a whole more money deal, but for those who love it, I guess.

As far as what movies get it, well again it looks like mostly all of them, okay well yeah there are like what a few billion DVD movies in the world, more movies then people almost...the first ones that cault my eyes were ofcorse as always would be Milla Jovovich movies.

Resident Evil, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, and The Fifth Element even are comming out May 23rd. all re-released on Blu-Ray, so first thing, had to order several of those myself, not sure wht the big differance is, but guess will see....

I LOVE Milla and Resident Evil and all, but gahhh even I must say, getting abit too many Milla DVDs now.... mostly because most of her 'better' movies again comming to Blu-Ray and the rest they will move over soon enough, but also because I collect several copies of each some to open, some never to open, and even my storage area with Milla, is indeed starting to run low. Not that it matters, can always get more storage, add another room to my house or such, but still.... as far as Milla and now everything on Blu-Ray it is getting alot in my collection.

Otherwise main point, not sure if those Milla movies are high dif...but they are being put on Blu-Ray, again I think just a whole other money gimic, but then again entertainment itself is a money gimic to start with, we have to pay to enjoy it no matter what sooner or later.

Yeah that is the thing too, as LMZ was also kind of saying, 'why' release the old mess 'now' anyway to start with, old Mr Lucas needs to know not everyone is a star wars head---or treky well that is star trek, but still for me, it all was no big deal, star wars was a cool movie back in the early 80's now...hell sorry but again it has been played out, so played out, everyone even HATE edpisode 1 and 2 anyway.... #3 ws 'good' but as most are and would say far too little far too late, the star wars ship has sailed and time for the shit to die---really it is.

And as you said, well hell, everyone already has the Star Wars DVD set, who would waste money to buy the same mess over again? star wars is 'okay' but hey they are no actors or actresses on there who are super models like Milla Jovovich, a whole other DVD set... good thing it is limited, no one would buy again a lesser version all over yet again, well anyone in their right mind. The DVD set now has extra mess that will not be on this 'original' so again, it is rather pointless by far, much like throwing a black and white Wizard Of Oz on a DVD.

I mean well you all know the original Wizard Of Oz movie was colorized....and they released it last year and it is great, and I love that movie and all extras, but would even I by a pitiful 'original' black and white----well no, and same with star wars.

Sorry other then the star heads or whatever you call all those no life comic book junkies who can get no sex other then from getting a prostitute and then having all those 'toys' held by fishing string in their rented homes (By their parents) all hung their like their is somehting 'real' other then a plastic toy---now to those losers, we are talking people like rune here now...yeah star wars may be something, an escape from the real world they will have to face someday and soon enough.

BUT to the real world, sorry star wars was good, but the shit is over, over, over and dead, geez that george lucas guy needs to die so just I will not have to hear about the bull shit star wars crap no more, again it was okay and good in the early 80's these days.... let's try to move foward in entertainment, and those 80's poor effects star wars movies rotting up in the attic on beta max tapes are far from it.

I would call myself a Star Wars fanatic but I really only follow the movies. I haven't read a book or went to conventions or anything like that. But I want to have the originals. That really is how you get to enjoy the enhanced versions is if you see the original. For example, I made sure to watch The originial version of Exorcist before I bought the special edition. The story will be the same, but being able to notice the little differences is what makes it better. I think the only original star wars I saw was the episode 4. The other ones I didnt see until they made the first special editions on VHS. If I knew Lucas was gonna do this tho I would of held off on getting the originals. From what I heard he wanted to act like the originals didnt exist so far as I could tell they werent gonna be released.
