Jason Momoa will play Aquaman in the highly anticipated Superman sequel, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, and there could be much more ahead for the aquatic superhero.
Though it has not been officially confirmed by Warner Bros., there are widespread reports that Momoa has been tapped for the role. Momoa is known for playing Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones, and also recently directed, wrote, produced and starred in Road to Paloma.
Jason Momoa himself has been cagey about the reports that he is Aquaman. When asked by HuffPost Live interviewer Alyona Minjovski whether he was playing Aquaman, Momoa responded, “Huh? What? Hmm?”
Momoa has also previously told Honolulu’s KITV4 that he is not Aquaman, but many studio insiders say otherwise.
But Momoa could be telling the truth, at least in part. Some source predict that he will be playing a character called Arthur Curry, which is Aquaman’s real name, and might not even turn into the superhero during Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
As reports emerged that Warner Bros. picked Momoa for the role as the aquatic superhero, there was also word that Aquaman could be getting his own movie.

“‘Aquaman’ is being developed on dual tracks, where studios and producers hire two separate writers to work on the same project in the hopes of getting the best version. The practice allows for release dates to be set while a project is still in development while giving it a muscular push. Warners needs just that as last week it dated nine untitled DC movies between 2016 and 2020.
“Warners is not revealing which one of those will be ‘Aquaman’, but the first untitled DC movie is due for release on Aug. 5, 2016, with two more due in 2017, on June 23 and Nov. 17, respectively.”
Those who want to find out if Jason Momoa is truly Aquaman may have to wait until Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is released on May 6, 2016.
