    Suicide Suspected

    By Pamela Engel

Actor Robin Williams has died at 63.

The cause of death is thought to be suicide by asphyxiation.

Here's the release from the Marin County Sheriff's Office:

On August 11, 2014, at approximately 11:55 am, Marin County Communications received a 9-1-1 telephone call reporting a male adult had been located unconscious and not breathing inside his residence in unincorporated Tiburon, CA. The Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Tiburon Fire Department and Southern Marin Fire Protection District were dispatched to the incident with emergency personnel arriving on scene at 12:00 pm. The male subject, pronounced deceased at 12:02 pm has been identified as Robin McLaurin Williams, a 63 year old resident of unincorporated Tiburon, CA.

An investigation into the cause, manner, and circumstances of the death is currently underway by the Investigations and Coroner Divisions of the Sheriff’s Office. Preliminary information developed during the investigation indicates Mr. Williams was last seen alive at his residence, where he resides with his wife, at approximately 10:00 pm on August 10, 2014. Mr. Williams was located this morning shortly before the 9-1-1 call was placed to Marin County Communications. At this time, the Sheriff’s Office Coroner Division suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia, but a comprehensive investigation must be completed before a final determination is made. A forensic examination is currently scheduled for August 12, 2014 with subsequent toxicology testing to be conducted.

Williams is known for his roles in "Good Will Hunting," "Mrs. Doubtfire," and "Hook." He won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his work in "Hunting."

His wife, Susan Schneider, released this statement:

This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin's death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.

That sucks. I wonder what got into him? I didn't really care about the comedy things he played, it was more interesting to see the slightly dark roles he was in. I remember him in One Hour Photo, The Night Listener, that episode of Law & Order SVU that caused the cops hell while labeling them sheep, I never saw all of "The Final Cut" even though the glimpses I saw looked interesting, and it seems like there might have been a few others I can't remember. The only thing I liked about Mrs. Doubtfire was the joke commercial re-cut of it I saw on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ckv_Dz-Sio

That's a shame really and who the hell knows what demons he had in his life. I'm sure he enjoyed life for the most part with his successes. R.I.P

Petition Circulating to Name Legend of Zelda NPC After Robin Williams

            By Robert Stoneback

There has been an outpouring of grief following the tragic suicide of Robin Williams earlier this week, and many people have been seeking ways to memorialize the beloved comic and actor. One that's currently getting a lot of traction around the internet is a petition to name an NPC after Williams in an upcoming Legend of Zelda game, a series that was very dear to the actor.

The petition, currently at just under 70,000 signatures on Change.org, was started by Nick Schaedel of Adelaide, Australia, and is directed to Nintendo of America. Schaedel writes:
Robin was an avid player of video games, with a love for all things Nintendo, and a particular love of all things Legend of Zelda. It is well-known that he named his daughter after the series' titular princess. Nintendo of America itself only recently hired him and his daughter to promote the franchise in a series of ads.

So, in a day where there aren't many words, what can we do? Well, there's a new Zelda game on the horizon. A bold reinvention, a fresh new open world adventure for Wii U. I would like to suggest that when the game is localized to English, Nintendo of America and the Treehouse name one of the characters "Robin" in his memory.

He won't get to play it, but he'll live on forever in a universe he always loved.
The petition is a sincere and heartfelt gesture, but it should be noted that signing it doesn't guarantee Nintendo will take any action. Still, as Schaedel wrote, Williams and his daughter did star in a series of Nintendo commercials, so its not outside the realm of possibility for the company to honor Williams in this way if enough fans prove interested. And given that there's already a similar petition to include Williams in World of Warcraft, we just might see him pop up to help Link in an upcoming quest.

You can sign the petition at the link below. Williams' death has been dominating headlines recently, and our own site has been no different. Williams' wife recently revealed that her husband was suffering from Parkinson's Disease at the time of his death, and Zelda Williams herself has unfortunately been forced off Twitter as a result of soulless Internet trolls.

Took a long time for me to come to terms with it and accept his death, but I finally have... What a true shame...

I'll always miss and love him for the joy and laughter he gave to the world as well as the fact that he brought my father and I closer together since we bonded over Robin Williams' comedy and movies.

Rest In Peace, Mr. Williams! You're finally free, Genie...
