A St. Augustine, FL woman, taking pictures of a train, was hit by it while standing on the railroad tracks about 2 p.m. Monday, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
Sonnie Lee Smith sustained multiple cuts and was treated by rescue at the scene, West King and North Rodriguez streets, before being taken to Flagler Hospital. She was flown to UF Health Jacksonville from Flagler, the Sheriff’s Office said.
The 33 year old told investigators she was taking pictures of the train but doesn’t remember anything after being hit, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The Florida East Coast Railroad police will investigate the incident, the Sheriff’s Office said.
