I made a code for the non-backwards compatible game Resident Evil Gaiden one time to bypass the screen saying it's only for Game Boy Color. When I tried playing it on the Super Game Boy, it proceed to play and I could hear the audio, but it was only displaying a black screen.
Also, I made a list of Game Boy Color games that are backwards compatible, that will work on a SGB:

Good question, I've never researched that before.
Some games were released on both systems, such as The Smurfs Nightmare, maybe compare the two ROMs to see how much has changed.Comment
