Earthbound for many is one of the few RPGs which dared to be bold, different and unconventional. Over the years gamers worldwide have grown to love Itoi's masterpiece, so much so it has quickly become a highly sort after title worth triple figures. For those unaware of this classic, prepared to be schooled as a documentary is in the works titled: Earthbound, USA.
Over the last year, director Jeff Benson has been hunting down fans and key figures involved with the MOTHER / Earthbound series to get their take on this quirky adventure. The documentary aims to help immortalize the on-going battle gamers around the world have had in trying to popularize the series to get follow up titles released in English.
The documentary itself could soon become one of the most informative on the subject, as the team behind 'Earthbound, USA' have already interviewed the game's designer, Shigesato Itoi, on camera. Although the documentary was under way, quietly in the works, Itoi's recent tweet on his interview soon had the cat out the bag.
With plans to open a Kickstarter later this year to help fund the project, Earthbound, USA's production team are aiming to release their work some time in 2015. Needless to say we're excited!

Just finished an interview with some American MOTHER 2 fans who came to see me. Some of them were in elementary school when they played it but are now married with children, and still have a love for the game to this day. I’ve had all sorts of projects in my time, but this game is definitely in a league of its own.
