  • McAfee is really a virus

It seems, that you really don't want to have McAfee as a scanner.

I was having a similiar problem with AVG Antivirus. It keeps detecting a legit rom graphics hacking program as a virus. If it deltes it then you can only use it if you turn off the AVG program when you start your program. Alot of rom hackers are reccomended we stop using that program and start using another specific program.

This isn't a good sign if a lot of the popular antivirus programs are having problems like that. Especially since a lot of people using them won't have the slightest idea what's going on.

heck 'most' of that anti viruss stuff is full of it's own virusses and spyware, so I can see this as being so true, as is heck also well known, or should be known, Norton is full of virusses and spyware also.

Sad really it seems the safest thing is to have nothing viruss wise on a PC these days....

Yeah...McAfee is crap anyway, though...I prefer ewido, or Nod32 to anything else right now...though Nod is admittedly a resource hog almost of the caliber of Norton...
          I may be lazy, but I can...zzzZZZzzzZZZzzzZZZ...

Not really, Norton is a severe resource hogger, it sets settings in places it shouldn't touch and doesn't do its job. It isn't 'full of virii and spyware'. And you haven't tried Linux or FreeBSD have you?

The only antivirus stuff that's full of virii are fake products made solely for the extent of giving out virii or real products which are given out after being tampered with.

            At least in general...

Re: McAfee is really a virus

Well, no not tried that stuff you said yet, but I myself am not sure what mess norton is, I just know a friend from IBM told me it was 'bad'. This friend not someone I see 'alot' of anymore, but works at the IBM company and is well, in his own words, a PC-Expert. Now some would say am I sure, and well, hey has proved it to me, so I will say yes, but anyway not seen him 'on' in a good while.---ummm guess the IBM workload got to his online 'chat' time but anyway.

As is right now, I use well nothing other then pest patrol and such other mess, and also as is, I 'hope' it is not a real worry I am warry of what e-mails I get and such. (I open them at a gevernment office on my job anyway to see what it all is first, and heck the government office PC's can all get 'bugs' as far as I care, they have 'experts' to always fixx those each day.) At home as long as everything that is 'safe' is backed up, I am pretty set, I do think.

As is with that, hehe blahhh remember way back when, well was not all that long ago, but when 'CDR's and CDRWs' were the main thing with 'wow' 600 MBs of space... well screw that NOW it is all about DVDR back ups and external 100 to 400 GB hard drives.... I just got myself, (The HDs I mean) so as long as I test first should all be good.) my how space has came in such a short time.

Otherwise, I feel great about my 'space' now, but not wanna get too over it, heck, within a few years this all will be filled up as well and will need the NEXT 'blu-ray' DVDR's and otherwise HDs to stay in the 'space' game.

Pretty much saying heck they make some type of 'new' viruss every other minute these days, and heck, having safe back up's seems to be a sure fire way of keeping the 'goods'...only issue is heck if you put a viruss mess on your HDs, which is again why I check all now at a government office. (They 'claim' at goverment offices ou cannot view all material, but well that is just a ruse in most cases.) Plus take the exteranl HD and safe the files on 'that' other then the main PC and erase you history mess, no issue, goevernment PC repair workers are not the smartest bunch, (at least they can get the new virusses) but those IMB guys seem to be. umm well anyway in most cases.
