  • New PJ64 2.0 Released to the Public

After years of leaked betas and seemingly dead development, the PJ64 team (well... zilmar) has released the latest public version of their popular HLE N64 emulator PJ64. Not only that, but the project is now open source. What will happen next? (Probably 100 forks each with a dumb added feature or something.)

    Binary: http://www.pj64-emu.com/downloads/func-startdown/121/
    Git Repo: http://www.pj64-emu.com:8090/project64.development/

As a personal opinion, I would prefer a LLE emulator for any system. But until N64 LLE improves, PJ64 has great features and compatibility.

I actually thought this version was crap at first: fps on most games was between 40-58... but I found a working solution: go to Options->Settings->Config: (game) and uncheck "Sync using Audio." Games now stay at a near-even 60 fps (though wasn't the N64 actually capped at 30?).

It would be really great if there was a video plugin that emulated a 320x240 resolution for screens that don't support it (like mine), but a workaround is to just use an old monitor or TV (gotta try that later if I have the cable). (320x240+antialiasing+anisotropic filtering is great for certain games like Mario 64, Zelda & the Banjo titles.)

Anyway, it's nice to see that Project64 is still moving along, even becoming open source no less! The menu issues have been fixed, so no more alt-keying my way to frustration

I did tried this emulator but, Mortal Kombat Mythologies don't have cheat codes on there! only South Park and Rocket: Robot on Wheels so i delete this program. i will just stick around with old video game systems before N64

This version also has problems with the debugger, it freezes every time I try to access it.

The debugger was never really useful to me either, maybe now that it's open source somebody with some c++ know-how can improve it.

I thought there were cheats for just about every game. Hmm.

I was part of the beta, but since I got my everdrive 64, I haven't used this emulator much.

Yeah, the debugger froze on me too. And so did the memory search function. I never knew that you were part of the beta rimsky, that's interesting to know.
                I'm retired from code hacking.

I was only part of it in the sense that I had access to the beta files. I didn't do any work on the emulator. I did create this for the team, but they showed little interest in it.

Maybe I'll move it here some day.

I looked at the code for the cheat searcher, it looks unfinished. I think there would be a lot of work involved to fix it, or even make it work to begin with. I'll look at it again, but it looked pretty greek to me since I don't know anything about the emulator's internals.
