  • Bethesda confirms bans for visiting hidden developer room

Room contained unreleased items that have filtered into the in-game economy.

Fallout 76 developer Bethesda has confirmed it is issuing temporary bans to players who access a hidden "developer room" full of lucrative and unreleased items for the online game.

News of the room's existence on Fallout 76 servers started leaking out publicly last week, with videos showing an area filled with boxes containing every legitimate item in the game, as well as a few cosmetics and weapons that have yet to be officially released (and a curious human-like NPC named "Wooby.")

Details of the apparent teleport hack being used to access the room in the PC version of the game were harder to come by without lurking in private Discord channels and hacking forums, though.

It's why I like retro cheating, you can't be banned

If they don't want you using it, then take the entire thing out of the game. They're being asses for leaving something in and then having an issue with people finding it. It's getting old seeing developers doing this. Take things out entirely, and have your beta testers do some hardcore testing and remove all the glitches too. If you're too lazy to fix it all (and you are, buggy as hell Fallouts and Elder Scrolls), we're getting to the point where you forfeit the right to complain about what others do with your stuff.

^This. Developers need to realize that leaving such "Pandora's Boxes" inside games is bound to get noticed, and then the info is instantly dispersed across the entire Web. So, developers are going to have to get smart about removing such "unwanted" content, or simply shut up and take the black eye when such content is inevitably found by enterprising gamers. Issuing bans for players using content already in the game is basically punishing them for playing the game. What a seriously messed-up world we live in.
        Tempus fugit, ergo, carpe diem.

Time flies, therefore, seize the day.

People kind of deserve a bit of a whack to the head if they are doing it and attacking others in an online game with it, but still, fix it. Elder Scrolls, Fallout, and BioShock games are what Bethesda are known and loved for the most, and The Elder Scrolls and Fallout games are also easily the buggiest games I've ever played too no matter which ones. In 15 years I'd think they can make something decently playable and problem free. Their BS is getting old. The same applies to others. Don't leave content in a packaged game and then get angry when people find out how to access it, and fix your glitches and bugs. If they can't figure it out, either they can stop complaining or stop making games because it's getting old blaming the players for when its the developers' mistakes.
