  • Flatz shares small patch to help with homebrew debugging PS4

Developer flatz has shared a small patch for PS4 5.0x to help with debugging. The patch was later on compiled into an actual binary by Zecoxao who integrated it into the PS4HEN payload for people to play with.

The patch, which redirects usermode printf calls into the kernel logs, could apparently help getting real time logs on a hacked PS4, and therefore help debugging for homebrew development.

Zecoxao also mentions that this could help debugging the PSP and PS2 emulators on the PS4. The scene’s attempt at leveraging The PS4’s internal PSP emulator to load many PSP games, in particular, has had a rough start, with very few compatible games so far.

This is a very minor change to PS4Hen, and useful only for developers trying to debug their stuff on the PS4, but easier development could lead to cool discoveries down the line
