    The moment is FINALLY here...

    The NEW GameHacking.org Beta
    http://gamehacking.org/beta.php

    There will probably be bugs, issues, confusing things and so on, so I will set up a new sub-forum strictly for beta feedback. I will also use this new space for any need-to-know info and updates and so on.

    Be aware there may be duplicate codes, possibly even missing codes, and other things. I have gone through great lengths to ensure any previously screwed up code credit was fixed, and everything was in good order. Any missing codes will eventually be added.

    There is still much work to be done, so expect things to be added, changed, improved, removed, or whatever. Feel free to post any feedback in the new sub-forum, as long as it hasn't been posted already.
    Please put all complaints in writing and submit them here.

    Above link not working? Try here.

      You can change the colors to your own taste. Feel free to use the old site for now, but it will eventually be gone.

          @rimsky82, nice work! Actually there is only one thing in layout of code database which I don't like.

          On any page with codes for any game on your database, I have to click on V button located right of code description and its author name on EVERY code description to view corresponding GameGenie / FCEUX PAR / GameShark / Codebreaker codes. Practically, there is no way you to expand all fields with codes at once with one click (I didn't found a button for this), I must expand every code with separate click. Also, I found also most of codes for TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine are missing - there are only descriptions and author's name, but after clicking the V button to expand field, the code itself doesn't appear at all.

          So, I have a some suggestions:

          1. Adding a button in page with codes for definite game (NES, Sega Genesis, SNES, Playstation) to make all fields expanded with all codes visible at once with one click (I least unable to find a such feature in your database);
          2. About "Export Selected Codes" floating field on right side of database, I suggest default selected emulator to be the most used. I means this:
          • NES - FCEUX to be selected as default emulator (and Nestopia as second) as most used emulators instead the much less popular FakeNES;
          • SNES - ZSNES remains as default selected emulator, but with bsnes as second instead of bsnes 0.75;
          • Sega Genesis - Gens to be selected as default emulator (KegaFusion as second and Gens32_surreal as third choice) as most used instead the less popular regen;

          3. Adding a table layout for list of games and for codes list for each game like current database. I suggest names of columns in pages with codes for each game to be sorted from left to right like this:
          • NES:
            1st column - Code Name, 2nd - GameGenie, 3rd - PAR, 4th - ProActionRocky, 5th - Note, 6th - Hacker's name.
          • SNES:
            1st column - Code Name, 2nd - GameGenie, 3rd - PAR, 4th - Note, 5th - Hacker's name.
          • NintendoDS:
            1st column - Code Name, 2nd - ActionReplay, 3rd - CodeBreaker, 4th - Note, 5th - Hacker's name.
          • Nintendo64:
            1st column - Code Name, 2nd - ActionReplay / Gameshark, 3rd - Xploder64, 4th - Xplorer64 (Raw), 5th - Note, 6th - Hacker's name.
          • GameBoy / GameBoy Color:
            1st column - Code Name, 2nd - GameGenie, 3rd - Gameshark, 4th - Codebreaker, 5th - Note, 6th - Hacker's name.
          • GameBoy Advance:
            1st column - Code Name, 2nd - GameShark/Action Replay (v1/v2), 3rd - Action Replay (v3/v4), 4th - GameShark/Action Replay (v1/v2) (Raw), 5th - Action Replay (v3/v4) (Raw), 6th - Codebreaker/GameShark SP, 7th - Codebreaker/GameShark SP (Raw), 8th - Note, 9th - Hacker's name.
          • Sega Genesis:
            1st column - Code Name, 2nd - GameGenie, 3rd - PAR, 4th - Note, 5th - Hacker's name.
          • Sega Master System / Sega Game Gear / Sega 32x:
            1st column - Code Name, 2nd - GameGenie, 3rd - ActionReplay, 4th - Note, 5th - Hacker's name.
          • Sega Saturn:
            1st column - Code Name, 2nd - ActionReplay, 3rd - Note, 4th - Hacker's name.
          • Playstation:
            1st column - Code Name, 2nd - Gameshark, 3rd - XplorerFX/XploderFX, 4th - Note, 5th - Hacker's name.
          • Playstation 2
            1st column - Code Name, 2nd - Gameshark, 3rd - Action Replay v1 / Gameshark v1, 4th - Action Replay v2 / Gameshark v2, 5th - Gameshark v3-4 / Xploder v4, 6th - Gameshark v5+ / Xploder v5+, 7th - Codebreaker v1-6 / Xploder v1-3, 8th - Codebreaker v7, 9th - RAW, 10th - Note, 11th - Hacker's name.

          As about all these various types of codes for different game systems (GameGenie, Gameshark, PAR, Codebreaker, etc.), for example, any NES game has only ProActionRocky and GameGenie for Infinite Lives and Invincibility, but not PAR code equivalent. Then only "GameGenie" and "ProActionRocky" column will contains a codes, while the "PAR" column will be empty.

          Sorry for that I didn't posted for all game systems.

          As for layout on list with games for each game system, I suggest names of columns to be sorted from left to right like this:
          1st Column - Game Name, 2nd - Region, 3rd - Size, 4th - Number of Codes, 5th - CRC32.

              Well, I decided to do it this way for a pretty good reason. Because the site handles all of the encryption of the different code formats, it really bogs down the page loading when you click on a game. It could take many seconds for games with a couple hundred codes. So that's why all of the codes aren't visible by default.

              When you click on a "V" button, your browser requests the server for the code information. So, if I let you open them all at once then you would really bog down the server by making many requests at once.

              To get around this, I have considered the option for more of a plain text version of a cheat page, much like what you've requested below. But in order to do this and have the page load quickly, all of the different encryption formats would not be available because it would just take too much time. I have been thinking of a way to get around this though, so I assure you you're not the only one with this idea.

              I think it might be a good idea to allow the user to choose a default emulator. I may integrate this in the future.

              For NES, the "RAW" column should always be visible for both ROM and RAM codes. I called it RAW because "PAR" stands for Pro Action Replay, and unless I'm mistaken, there wasn't a Pro Action Replay for the NES. But the RAW column is what you are looking for in that regard, since the old PARs never encrypted anything.

                Great job rimsky82, i've been waiting for this since my old request more than 1 year ago.
                I think this makes GameHacking.org stand out above other similar sites.
                Of course i'll report you any issue i will find in the subforum...

                  There really are no similar sites in terms of a site that still actively hacks cheat codes for the old retro systems (NES, SNES, Genesis). If you know of any other site that still actively hacks cheat codes for NES, SNES, Genesis... I'd be curious to know what site it is.

                      Maybe you could cache each version of a code when it's first requested to speed up requests for it later. Like this:

                      1. User requests to a see a code.
                      2. Server checks to see if the code has already been encrypted for other devices and is in the database. If not, the code will be encrypted now and then cached back to the DB.
                      3. Server retrieves the requested code from the database and sends it to the user.

                      Seems like it would lower your server usage by a bit and might allow for quicker page loads if you ever enable a way to display all codes from the start. Of course, this would come at the cost of a larger database. Just an idea, and it would be easy to implement if needed.

                        GSCentral gets practically all their new NES/SNES cheat codes from us. So I personally don't count that site as an active hacking site for NES/SNES cheat codes. (Although there's one hacker on that site that still hacks music modifiers for SNES. So the only active NES/SNES hacker on that site, besides the music modifier hacker, is abystus... and abystus is a member here.). And from what I briefly saw over at Codetwink, there aren't anyone actively hacking cheat codes for NES/SNES.

                          That's because the scene started way before you arrived and those systems are mostly hacked out. GSCentral hacked them to bits over a decade ago and just left the last few scraps (palette hacks, etc.) after moving onto other gaming systems.

                          We are still hacking retro systems to this day (and so is the rest of the Internet).

                            Excellent job with the beta version!
                            I really like the new code layout, and how all codes for a system is in one central place.
                            No more opening 3 different links to have access to the 'old' 'new' and 'official' codes for Genesis and such.
